Community Outreach

Baker Interfaith Friends:
is a visitation ministry offering a compassionate presence and friendship to people held in detention in Baker County.
Opportunities include visiting, letter-writing, and prayer, in partnership with others from our Gainesville community.

ULC is a member of IAIJ ( Interfaith Alliance for Immigrant Justice)  (http://gainesvilleiaij.blogspot.com/) and as such members make monthly trips to the Baker county Detention Center (one of the ten worst in the country according to LIRS, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (https://www.lirs.org/))

Food Pantry:

Every Sunday a grocery cart is filled with food donations for the Gainesville community Misnistry Food Pantry (http://gcmhelp.org) or the Food Bank on the University of Florida Campus for students and staff (https://pantry.fieldandfork.ufl.edu/).

Grace Market Place (http://gracemarketplace.org/) is another recipient of ULC social conscience as members of our congregation regularly collects food and clothing for the homeless "residents".

ULC hosts Alcoholics Anonymous groups 3 times a week (https://betteraddictioncare.com)

Gainesville Community Grant Funds and ULC donations are available to help needy residents in our community.
