Community Outreach

Baker Interfaith Friends:
is a visitation ministry offering a compassionate presence and friendship to people held in detention in Baker County.  Opportunities include visiting, letter-writing, and prayer, in partnership with others from our Gainesville community.

ULC is a member of IAIJ ( Interfaith Alliance for Immigrant Justice)  (http://gainesvilleiaij.blogspot.com/) and as such members make monthly trips to the Baker County Detention Center (one of the ten worst in the country according to LIRS, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (https://www.lirs.org/)

Kaiser Garden Harvest:
Every growing season the produce from the vegetable garden is donated to St Francis House in Gainesville thanks to the steady and faithful works of Church members.

Food Pantry:
Every Sunday a grocery cart is filled with food donations for the Gainesville community Ministry Food Pantry (http://gcmhelp.org) or the Food Bank on the University of Florida Campus for students and staff (https://pantry.fieldandfork.ufl.edu/).

Grace Market Place:
(http://gracemarketplace.org/): Members of our congregation regularly collect food and clothing for the homeless "residents".

ULC hosts Alcoholics Anonymous groups 3 times a week (https://betteraddictioncare.com)

Gainesville Community Grant Funds and ULC donations are available to help needy residents in our community.
