Shari is a Diaconal Minister, consecrated in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America since 1999 and serves University Lutheran Church as a volunteer in building bridges between the church and the world.  She came to ULC in 1964 as a University of Florida student and has served as leader in a variety of areas over her 50 years at ULC.  She and husband Les were married at ULC in 1967.  She was certified as a K-12 teacher in 1968.  Following a 20-year teaching career and four years at the University of Florida’s TREEO [Training, Research, Education in Environmental Occupations] Center, she pursued seminary education.  She received a master’s degree in Lay Theology from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio.

Shari served sixteen years in campus ministry in an ecumenical setting, including ten years as Campus Minister of Jacksonville Campus Ministry and Director of the Interfaith Center at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville for 10 years.  In 1997 she became Director of Evangelizing More Boldly [EMB], which is an outreach ministry of ULC working collaboratively to raise up Lutheran Campus Ministry across the Florida-Bahamas Synod.

Shari is especially interested in working toward unity of all people and particularly to bridge the gap of misunderstanding between Christians and people of other faith expressions.  She believes the Triune God intends for all creation to live in harmony and balance and for humanity to work to heal the brokenness of all creation.

Shari and her husband have two grown children and five grandchildren.
